WEDDINGS

Jesus said, "At the beginning of creation God made them male and female. For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh. So they are no longer two, but one. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate" (Mark 10:6-9, TNIV).
Marriage is a sacred institution created by God. When you get married, you are entering into a sacred covenant with one another and with God. Therefore, your wedding is also to be a sacred time - a time of joy and celebration to be sure, but even more it is to be a time of worship.
Wyatt Park Christian Church is pleased to be able to share this special time with you. The love and love gifts of the members and friends of this church through the years have provided this setting in which your wedding can have a deep and lasting significance, both for you and for those who share in that moment with you. Our beautiful Sanctuary comfortably seats up to 250 people.

Setting the Date
Use of our church for weddings is not limited to participating church members. However, certain arrangements must be made through the church office in order to reserve our facilities.

The prospective bride and groom should understand that weddings cannot be scheduled on the church calendar until a conference with a minister is held.  If one of our ministers is not to perform the ceremony, arrangements must be approved by one of them.

Before making any announcement or finalizing plans, it is essential the couple understand that a minimum of seven pre-marital counseling sessions with the minister will be required. These sessions are primarily about preparation for marriage, although some time will be spent preparing for the wedding. In conjunction with the pastor, prospective brides and grooms will work through the book Preparing for Marriage, edited by Dennis Rainey. In addition, each couple preparing for marriage will be matched with a mentor couple - a Christian couple whose marriage has lasted for many years. That mentor couple will partner with the prospective bride and group to help with their preparation for, and initial steps into, married life.

Scheduling Note - We have a worship service every Saturday at 5:00PM, therefore the Sanctuary is not available for weddings or related activities (i.e. photo sessions) between 3:30PM and 6:15PM.

Marriage License
The marriage license should be brought to the church office the day of the rehearsal.  Remember, there is a 3-day waiting period after applying for a marriage license in Buchanan County. Rules in other counties may be different.

Music
Music is an important part of your wedding ceremony.  Please give this careful consideration.  If you require the use of the organ or piano in the sanctuary, we request that our organist/pianist be used.  If our musicians are not available, an alternate may be used subject to approval.

Reception/Rehearsal Dinner
Some couples may desire to hold their wedding reception in our Social Hall.  The space in this room makes it especially appropriate for such an occasion.   Likewise, the rehearsal dinner can easily be held there as well.  We have a large kitchen equipped with commercial ovens. It is important to know, however, that alcoholic beverages are not allowed on the church premises.
